Work continued during a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for Gloria Hicks Elementary School.
Hicks Elementary, at McArdle Road and
Carroll Lane, will replace Central Park Elementary and consolidate students from Central Park and Lexington Elementary schools.  
 
The new Gloria Hicks Elementary School is expected to be complete for the 2010-2011 school year.

Healthy Families
A family approach to better health
   A mobile wellness program has been developed at Driscoll Children's Health Plan. It's called Healthy Families of South Texas. The program provides improved self-care for families by increasing their knowledge of better lifestyle choices through the use of text messaging.
 
  It only takes a few seconds to join. Once registered, every now and then a text message will be sent asking brief questions about health information needs. Over time, the Healthy Families Registry team will provide personalized, educational advice that aims to improve the family's health through the use of email, text messaging, and post cards.
 
The benefits of this grass-roots program is to provide families easier ways to live healthy lives and receive support from family and friends.
